If 2018 was all about GMs trucks, 2019 will be all about its SUV lineup. As the automaker readies a new Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and GMC Yukon, the brand showed off the2020 Cadillac Escaladeat its investor conference.

In fact, there was a lot of Cadillac at the conference as Mark Reuss, GM President with oversight over the brand, made his remarks. Not only did he show off the next-generation Escalade, but he also showed off amystery Cadillac sports carand declared Cadillac will be the tip of the corporate spear for electric vehicles. Moving forward, Cadillac will be GMs leadelectric vehicle brand to do battle with Tesla.

As for the Escalade, we werent treated to the video or images, which were redacted for those who dialed into the conference. Instead, in-person attendees were treated to the SUV. Reuss also mentioned a next-generation Super Cruise system, which could debut with the 2020 Cadillac Escalade.

We caught the newEscalade testing for the first timethis past December and it couldnt hide a new mesh shield grille and more horizontal headlights. A week later, the long-wheelbase Escalade ESVstepped out in front of the cameras eyefor the first time. Both models will go head-to-head with the Lincoln Navigator and Navigator L long-wheelbase model.

We suspect Cadillac will do quite a bit to differentiate itself from the Tahoe and Yukon this time around. That includes the potential addition of the brands4.2-liter LTA twin-turbo V8engine. Though, the6.2-liter L87 V8could also stick around as well.

As of now, we expect Cadillac to reveal the new Escalade in late 2019, perhaps this fall, before it goes on sale as a 2020 model. Cadillacs current plans call for a new vehicle introduction every six months through 2020. Post-2020, well be treated to the brands first all-electric model riding on a dedicated EV platform.

Future Cadillac Electric SUV Debut Electrifies The Crowd In Detroit

Cadillac managed to sell only 37,291 vehicles In Q3 2018 with 9,533 of them being the Cadillac Escalade meaning its time for General Motors to cut the Cimmaron ties and make their Blackwing twin-turbo V8 engine available in the next generation 2020 Cadillac Escalade.

They better nail it, theres no room for error or halfassing it this time. Competition is tough & better than ever.

The last time GM rolled out their new Full Sized SUVs I think the Tahoe went into production first.

If the Escalade is due out in the fall, we should start to see a Tahoe or Escalade at an auto show, very soon.

The front end looks very nice. Looking forward to seeing the rest of it and the Escalade.

Ya I saw that I like the lower grille in your face look.

I hope thats an adjustable height suspension, because I really dont like seeing that much of a cars underclothes.

So any hour we should see some half blurry phone camera shots of said Escalade?

I have heard from a good source that we arent seeing these on the ground until Spring 2020.

And, that the new model is about 3 inches longer than the current model (and really, as far back to the 2007 dimensions). So they lines up with fighting the Navigator head on.
